Von Guerard painted A view from Mt Koorecheang and the Pyrenees in 1864. This artwork is an aerial oblique view of the scene today with Mt Franklin visually dominant in the foreground and Mt Koorcheang melding into the Pyrenees. with the farmland in between.

The rainbow on Mt Franklin depicts the nature of the areas as a cultural melting pot and evokes the efforts of FCV staff who planted vegetation on its slopes post the 1969 bushfire.

The foreground shows a pool of water in a coastal estuary. There is a block of rock/ sand emerging from the pool. The image is at low tide as the estuary is not reaching the ocean , which is obscured from view by low dunes and rocks. There are smaller pools of water stranded from the main body of the estuary. The sky above is full of fiery clouds as the last light from the sun paints the sky.Aerial oblique view of the colour variations within a large ovoid body of water (lake) in the foreground with the fenced paddocks leading the viewer to the skyline.View over the islands and crater lakes at Tower Hill with the ocean and Port Fairy lighthouse in the distancesAerial oblique view of the Eureka Rebellion / Eureka lead goldfield. Front focal point is over the skate park / atheletic field in Ballarat East. Looking back over Main Road towards the golf club (Mt Xavier) and Warrenheip.
