I was inspired to create this artwork following an afternoon of quiet contemplation sitting in amongst nature. As I sat still and silent under the trees, amongst the delicate understory, I felt nature relax around me, and slowly the creatures that call it home began to reemerge. If I was still and silent, I was not a threat to them. It was then the wrens came, and delicately they flitted around me, almost curiously questioning my presence. This artwork was born of that moment. I decided to use ink, and to use found objects (sticks, leafy branches and small twigs) instead of paintbrushes. Through using these unconventional tools, I aimed to recreate and capture the earthiness of the scene. To convey the connection and oneness of nature that I felt in that moment.
