I made this painting from a photo I took whilst walking around the beaches at Cronulla. It's such a beautiful spot to walk, the ocean taking my mind off the exercise! Although surrounded by shrubs and grass, this tree stood alone and it was captivating on this early morning walk. I chose some brighter greens to create the painting as the photo didn't do it justice and I wanted to really focus on the colour, light and shapes in the scene. I love green (I didn't realise just how much until I started painting) but it's tricky. There are so many variations of green in nature and I guess this is why I find myself staring so often. At a tree. Or the grass. My husband and kids just roll their eyes and move on!

The painting is 76 x 51cm acrylic on canvas. The edges have been painted to form part of the painting and it's ready to hang.
