Delight - deep impasto abstract

This painting is part of a series looking at (mostly gardens) through a layer of white iron lacework. It’s inspired by the beauty and whimsy of the designs used historically and the effect the lace gives to the scene beyond. In Delight, the scene beyond is a garden full of bright flowers and plants, softened by the pattern of the iron lace. It has a Moroccan vibe and gives a peaceful feeling to any room.

Thick impasto paint gives a lovely sculptural feel to this painting, it will never be mistaken for a print.

This painting has all edges painted and is professionally wired for hanging.

I use top quality custom stretched canvases made to my specifications . All paints and mediums are professional archival quality and all work is sealed in numerous coats of archival varnish to enhance, protect and preserve.

All my paintings are packaged very securely using acid free paper, layers of bubble wrap, strong corner protection and a double walled cardboard box with extra reinforcing to keep the work safe.

I create from my home studio, mainly making larger abstracts in acrylic or oil. I’ve been painting and drawing since childhood with a few detours into large scale murals and mosaics, and it gives me great joy. I’m fascinated by the human mind, memories and emotions and how they respond to music, shape and colour combinations. I’m inspired by organic shapes and textures, bushwalks, especially in forests and near rivers, lakes and the ocean and the quirky individuality of gum tree trunks. My work often uses many intuitive layers of paint, texture and sculptural qualities to express movement, change, light and emotion.
