Artwork Description

I love the twisty individuality of these gum tree trunks, there are lots of lemon scented gums just like this along one of my favourite bushwalks. Looking through them to the distant hazy mountains fills me with peace and gratitude that I live in this land of eucalypts.

The smooth quirky trunks are curved and raised from the canvas giving this painting a truly sculptural look and creating a wonderful interplay of light and shadow that changes depending on the direction of the light source. Retaining some of the tool marks adds character. One of the photos shows the shadow created with light from a side window. Your visitors will want to touch these trunks, and they can - the painting is well protected with 3 coats of archival varnish - gloss on the background and matte on the trunks to enhance the shadow effect.

The dappled impressionist technique brings to life the constant movement of water, clouds, light and plants. Softly muted from a distance, up close this painting is full of joyful colour.
This highly textured and sculpted painting will never be mistaken for a print. The texture gives it movement and depth with many layers of colour and pattern that draw the viewer in.

This painting has a beautiful external floating frame in sustainable natural Australian Oak and is professionally wired for hanging. It is framed within 24 hours of your order, so no added delays.

I use top quality custom stretched canvases made to my specifications . All paints and mediums are professional archival quality and all work is sealed in numerous coats of archival varnish to enhance, protect and preserve.

All my paintings are packaged very securely using acid free paper on the painted surface, layers of bubble wrap, cardboard corner covers, and a custom double walled cardboard box with extra reinforcing to keep the artwork safe.

The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

Hi there, and thanks for visiting my page.

I create from my home studio, mainly making larger abstracts in acrylic or oil. I’ve been painting and drawing since childhood with a few detours into large scale murals and mosaics, and it gives me great joy. I’m fascinated by the human mind, memories and emotions and how they respond to music, shape and colour combinations. I’m inspired by organic shapes and textures, bushwalks, especially in forests and near rivers, lakes and the ocean and the quirky individuality of gum tree trunks. My work often uses many intuitive layers of paint, texture and sculptural qualities to express movement, change, light and emotion.

I use professional quality custom made stretched canvases. All paints and mediums are professional archival quality and all my work is sealed in numerous coats of archival varnish to enhance, protect and preserve.

All my artwork is carefully and safely packaged using acid free paper, layers of bubble wrap, strong corner protection and double walled cardboard reinforced for extra protection.
