Artwork Description

Capturing the movement of air on the surfaces of the water and clouds: a clear sky rendered with minimal detail sits in contrast to the intricate, ever-changing patterns of the water below. Revealed through areas that are calm and glasslike, while others are gently stirred, creating a rhythm of stillness and motion.
Painted on Tasmania/Lutruwita’s Tamar Island, a place of significant beauty, alive with birds, insects, and small animals yet with a profound sense of quiet. I hope to offer viewers of my painting that same opportunity for reflection and slowing down, mirroring the experience of walking along the boardwalk and simply observing the natural world unfold.

Artist Bio

Ten years ago, I embarked on my artistic journey by enrolling in a 'Painting for adult beginners' class at the Brunswick studio of the Fitzroy Painters. Under the guidance of skilled instructors Adriane Strampp and later Kez Hughes in the Atelier class.

I started with humble beginnings but soon discovered a passion for oil painting. With their expert tuition, encouragement, and valuable advice, I honed my skills and gained valuable insights. This progress led me to participate in various group exhibitions, including those with the Fitzroy Painters, Print Maker Gallery, Victorian Art Society, Melbourne and Victorian Artists, Sherbrooke Art Gallery and Rotary Community Art shows.

My practice continues to be inspired by the creative exploration that first drew me to the studio, and I look forward to sharing my evolving work with new audiences. I work exclusively in oil paint as I prefer the colours, feel and effects that can be achieved with even a limited palette.
