Artwork Description

Approaching sunset as the last of the day is reflected off the water and the moon is rising. A serene setting with a fisherman's boat returning to the Robe port in South Australia. The town was named after the South Australian Governor Frederick Holt Robe in 1846. It has been a busy port for exporting wool, and immigrants travelling to the gold fields.

Artist Bio

Ten years ago, I embarked on my artistic journey by enrolling in a 'Painting for adult beginners' class at the Brunswick studio of the Fitzroy Painters. Under the guidance of skilled instructors Adriane Strampp and later Kez Hughes in the Atelier class.

I started with humble beginnings but soon discovered a passion for oil painting. With their expert tuition, encouragement, and valuable advice, I honed my skills and gained valuable insights. This progress led me to participate in various group exhibitions, including those with the Fitzroy Painters, Print Maker Gallery, Victorian Art Society, Melbourne and Victorian Artists, Sherbrooke Art Gallery and Rotary Community Art shows.

My practice continues to be inspired by the creative exploration that first drew me to the studio, and I look forward to sharing my evolving work with new audiences. I work exclusively in oil paint as I prefer the colours, feel and effects that can be achieved with even a limited palette.
