Artwork Description

The Lone Rider embodies a spirit of independence and adventure. The cowboy and his trusty steed capture the essence of a bygone era when the open plains represented ultimate freedom.

Artist Bio

I am an artist and mother of 4 adult children living in Dubbo, NSW with my partner and two busy, but much loved cocker spaniels.

I have been painting my whole life drawing inspiration from the power of colour and form, and how an artist can manipulate them to invoke emotion.

I've experimented with many styles over the years however have always returned to abstraction, I enjoy its innate challenge of making sense of the infinite variety of colour and shapes available to me via a variety of mediums.

Whilst acrylic paint is my main medium, I often use oil pastels and sticks to create depth and movement within the painting, I frequently add hand stitching with woollen or embroidery threads which add texture and interest. Recently I have been experimenting with cutting then re-sewing completed canvases to produce dimension and interesting juxta positioning of shapes and colours.

In the 90s I exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and licensed my work for crockery and a range of stationary items. However life got busy leaving little time for creating, fortunately I now have the ability to commit to my art and produce some quality work.

I truly hope that when you view my work you connect with the joy I felt whilst creating it.
