Artwork Description

As it gets into the colder months, I've been drawn towards creating warmer artworks -- subjects bathed in warm golden light, casting rich shadows of endless colours. I love playing with shape in my works, making the unique features of sighthounds very appealing to me. This small painting on Claybord is a gorgeous little package bursting with warmth, colour and pleasing shapes!

All of my artworks are created using sustainable materials that contain no animal derivatives. The clay-coated panel is made from FSC-certified sustainable forest products using green manufacturing processes.

Artist Bio

Iโ€™m LJ Ingham, an Australian artist currently living and working in Yuggera Ugarapul country, South-East Queensland.

While gouache and oil pastel are my tools of choice, I also enjoy using ink, collage, a good old-fashioned graphite pencil, and exploring how these tools interact with each other. Across all media, my art is unified by my love for the living form and the natural world at large.

Through my work I explore the relationships between shapes in my subjects. There is so much diversity in the world of plants and animals, and I wish to appreciate the unique form of a creature, and how its living, breathing geometry fits like a puzzle-piece amongst its greater environment.

An integral part of my practice is using tools and techniques that minimise my impact on the environment. All of my art supplies are vegan, containing no animal derivatives. Where possible, I source my tools and supports second-hand, and I aim to minimise waste in the studio throughout the process of making an artwork.
