Artwork Description

Rising from the whisper of ash and soil, the Waratah burns - not with destruction but with devotion. Heartfire is a meditation on endurance and tenderness intertwined; the flame that kindles within when all else fades. Each petal unfolds like breath, alive with the pulse of renewal - a testament to nature’s courage and the quiet power of beauty to heal. Within its honeycomb patterns lie traces of connection - the quiet geometry of life - where fragility and power coexist in luminous harmony.

Artist Bio

I often hear that to create art is to know yourself more. Making art has a message that not all will see and hear, but which resonates powerfully with those who do. To paint what captures my attention whether it be how perfectly human-made objects exist with nature, the beauty of reflective light or the majesty and power of Mother Earth is to appreciate this life.

More recently I’ve painted memories from my life’s moments; snapshots of the obvious and others, not so. Let the story be told - not only mine but of those who are provoked to sense and remember their own special moments when engaging with my art.

With the use of brush, palette knife and other mark-making tools, I build multiple layers of paint in oils or acrylics. The application of different textures also help to reveal a side-story to the main and this is an area I take time to develop. The texture creates depth and interesting twists and turns to the theme of my paintings much like the different characters and themes of a novel.

Many styles and mediums are yet to be explored but I look forward to navigating my way through this experimentation.
