Lou lives in Melbourne. She is a self taught artist focusing on reflections of the human form and abstract landscapes. She works on professional grade paper with charcoal and pastels and her images range from simple compositions in black and white to colour infused layers. Her images are sculptural in shape and bold with energy and vitality.
Figurative images are inspired by life drawing models, raw with beauty and vulnerability. Each model has their own distinct energy and movement and this is translated onto paper with a speed and intensity that reflects the inner rhythm of the body.
Following a Plein d’air intensive in Tuscany and hours of walking coastlines during recent lockdowns Lou now produces abstract landscapes, seascapes and skies finding inspiration from scenes in Melbourne's Bayside and the Great Ocean Road.
