Artwork Description

The painting depicts a corroboree under the stars. The U shapes in a circle are dancing people, and the 4 dotted lines intersecting the circle symbolise traditional body painting of those participating in dance. The wavy line indicates the horizon with the footsteps and distance travelled to come together. The dusty pink represents the earth and the arches are the hills and mountains of the landscape.

Painting comes framed in a floating pine frame.

Artist Bio

Hello!
thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

Lou Martin is an emerging contemporary Aboriginal artist (Wiradjuri), originally from New South Wales, however has made the Sunshine Coast (Gubbi Gubbi Country) her home.

She is a married mother of two, and has been painting for over 25 years; primarily in her contemporary Aboriginal style, however is quite partial to quirky beach scenes, floral and abstract styles also.

Lou feels a deep connection to the land and her pieces are often a reflection of this. Her coastal and hinterland surroundings, as well as their people and the importance of family and community, are often the inspiration for her work.
