Winter wave at dusk

This painting depicts a wave rolling into Leighton beach in Perth immediately after sunset. Though cold, the Perth beaches offer some beautiful hues in winter.

Louis Parker is a Fremantle/Walyalup based artist. He has recently returned to WA after two years living in Paris (and three in Stockholm before that). His style is heavily influenced by his countless hours studying the impressionist greats at the Musée d'Orsay and Louvre. He believes a great landscape painting should convey the emotion of inhabiting a given space, favouring impulsive mark making over meticulous photorealism. A life long surfer, coastal scenes make a natural subject though Louis will try to paint just about anything with varying degrees of success.
