Water to Louise is ethereal. When she immerses herself in it, she finds she can escape to her own thoughts and solitude. It’s like a sacred place where time stands still and all she hears is the motion of the ocean as she lays adrift, connecting with nature. Surrendering to the mesmerising qualities, she peacefully listening to her breath, as she rejuvenates, drawing strength from the ocean, and its numerous healing properties. Afloat in this beautiful other realm, she feels personal freedom and a great stillness that nowhere else can provide her. This inner calm is reflected in her array of oil paintings.
Louise became increasingly intrigued with the natural phenomenon of that moment when light meets water, and the creation of when refraction occurs, as light passes obliquely through the interface between one medium of varying density to another. Her paintings capture the essence of weightlessness, foreshortening, surrender, and the wonderful sense of peace, while the beautifully calming hues of the ocean dominate her palette, and the exquisite patterns the sunlight creates on human skin. Louise creates an almost outer-worldly experience of a fluid, non permanent connection between human existence and the deeply fluid connection with the ocean.
