Artwork Description

Paper Sculpture is an artform where coloured paper is cut, layered, painted, shaped and glued into a 3D artwork. I love this artform as it allows me to create art works which come alive as the light casts shadows across the shaped pieces of paper.

This is an original artwork created using acrylic paints and watercolour paper. The combination provides a vibrant, highly detailed artwork which will look stunning in a simple frame.

The artwork is created on a sheet of watercolour paper.
It is currently unframed.

Artist Bio

I have lived in Tropical Far North Queensland for most of my adult life, growing up in Townsville and moving to Cairns as a teenager with my Mum.
Since then, I have lived in a few places across Australia but have always returned to this beautiful part of the world.
Here, I am surrounded by World Heritage rainforest and amazing fauna that is not found anywhere else in the world. Inspiration is easy to find.
As a child, I loved the natural world and after leaving school I obtained a Bachelor of Science.
I am a self-taught artist and have developed my skills while balancing a busy life filled with work and family. Drawing and painting when I could, I learnt how to capture the beauty of birds, frogs and other creatures in detailed pencil artworks and acrylic paintings.
I currently create highly detailed coloured pencil artworks and some acrylic paintings of birds, frogs and botanical subjects.
A chance gift of a book about paper sculpture prompted me to also try this magical artform.
My paper sculpture artworks are created using colour paper pieces which are shaped and glued onto a base and built up to create a 3D picture. I like to add a lot of detail to my sculptures to give them depth and make them interesting to the eye.
My artwork comes from my love of nature and the desire to share this with others so they can see the value in preserving our unique habitats, flora and fauna.
I am passionate about conservation and a percentage of the sale of my artworks goes to wildlife conservation charities. (in particular, the Bush Heritage Australia and Birdlife Australia).
I hope you enjoy my artwork and my vibrant depictions of the wildlife and wilderness of my beautiful home in the Tropics.
