The botanical gardens at Mt Coot-tha are bursting with beauty. It never fails to amaze me how many different types of plants and flowers, colours, shapes and textures exist in the world. This banksia is an example of how these unexpected elements come together in an unusual but beautiful way.
The artwork was created by engraving the shapes and lines onto ply, before layering with watercolours.
Artwork is framed in a handmade Tasmanian Oak frame- the oak has been ebonised to achieve the dark colour while maintaining the wood grain.
