When I was asked to house-sit for my friends Pete and Suzie, naturally the first thing I did was scan their garden for potential artworks. The slender silver-green fronds of the Grevillea quickly caught my eye. With the aid of the step-ladder, soon the last of the vibrant orange flowers was mine. What followed were delightful hours of recreating the intricacies of its elegant lines.
The artwork was created by engraving the shapes and lines onto ply, before layering with watercolours.
Artwork is framed in a handmade Tasmanian Oak frame- the oak has been ebonised to achieve the dark colour while maintaining the wood grain.
