Artwork Description

Territory is a bold, vertically composed mixed-media work by Spuke, built around the visual language of graffiti, layered mark-making and urban surfaces.

Deep reds and blacks form the foundation of the piece, interrupted by fluorescent yellow, orange-red, turquoise and white lines that cut aggressively across the canvas. Symbols, numerals, handwritten marks, drips, scratches and overlapping forms create the impression of a wall that has been repeatedly written over, claimed, erased and marked again.

The surface is a major part of the work. Acrylic paint is combined with modelling paste and epoxy resin, giving sections of the composition visible depth, gloss and physical texture. Some marks sit heavily on the surface while others appear partially buried beneath subsequent layers, creating a dense, almost archaeological quality.

The title Marked Territory connects naturally to what is visible: competing marks occupying the same space, each leaving evidence behind. Rather than presenting a clean or controlled image, the work embraces collision, movement and visual disruption.

At 120 × 60 cm, its narrow vertical format gives it strong presence without requiring an enormous wall. The high-contrast palette makes it particularly effective as a statement piece in contemporary, industrial, eclectic or urban-inspired interiors, where the reds and fluorescent tones can become a strong focal point against neutral walls and darker furnishings.

Artist Bio

Artist Biography

Based in Melbourne, Australia, I create original mixed-media artworks that transform walls into focal points. My work explores texture, movement and contrast through layered compositions, combining acrylics, metallic elements and sculptural finishes to produce pieces that change with the light and reveal new details over time.

Rather than following trends, I focus on creating artwork with presence—pieces that evoke emotion, spark conversation and become a lasting part of the spaces they inhabit. Every painting is built by hand through a layered process that embraces experimentation, depth and individuality, ensuring no two works are ever identical.

I draw inspiration from the balance between chaos and control found in nature, architecture and my everyday life. Organic textures, flowing movement and bold contrasts are recurring themes throughout my collections, resulting in contemporary works that complement both modern and timeless interiors.

Each artwork is an original creation, made using premium materials and finished to professional standards. Whether displayed in a private home, office or commercial space, my goal is to create artwork that leaves a lasting impressionp and offers collectors something genuinely unique.i

For me, art is more than decoration—it is a statement, an experience and a reflection of personality. I hope every piece finds a home where it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
