Artwork Description

Gustav Holst composed his seven movement orchestral suite 'The Planets' between 1914 and 1916. The music for each planet evoking an astrological rather than astronomical theme. Each movement is intended to convey the influence of the planets on the psyche. Holst referred to this suits as a ‘series of mood pictures’.

This is a series of landscape images that mirror the music or ‘mood picture’ that Holst produced. Musical notation from the score of each movement has also been incorporated into the images.
The images have been captured in infra-red to bring an otherworldly feel.

The winds of Wilsons Promontory constantly carving new channels into the dunes of the Big Drift are Mercury, the Winged Messenger.

A limited edition print run of only 5 images will be sold in this size.
