Artwork Description

A 1970 Land Cruiser rattles down the Gunbarrel Highway, carrying the strength of many miles. The folk-art style tells it straight, without pretension, a yarn on canvas about the meeting of steel and desert, and the timeless pull of the Northern Territory’s wide open spaces.

Artist Bio

Luke Newman is the co-founder of Uppercut Deluxe, a globally recognised men’s grooming brand born from street culture and creative expression.
Grounded in his Wiradjuri heritage, Luke brings a distinctly Australian lens to everything he creates—celebrating local stories, landscapes, and lived experiences. His favourite band, the iconic Warumpi Band, reflects his passion for music that is both raw and rooted in Country, carrying the spirit of storytelling into his own practice.

When not immersed in art and music, Luke spends his time roaming South West Tasmania in search of the elusive Thylacine. His creative pursuits continue to balance tradition with contemporary culture, honouring community, heritage, and the enduring mystery of the Australian landscape.
