Ginger Freckles

This woman stares sideways at you. Although she is plagued by freckles and untidy hair, she has character and attitude. The paint has been carefully layered to give depth and glow. Dark green and orange frame the face, the finer details are subtle, because the haughty stare of the eyes in the main feature.

I want to attract the viewer with a likeness which is familiar and recognisable. Then keep the audience searching for character, personality and energy.

There is such a challenge in portraiture. There is such a thrill to see lines, strokes and colour transform into human form. I’m inspired by identity, story and temperament coming to life in art.
