The Beautiful Firetail is an Australian woodland finch. It has fine barring covering it's body, a black mask and vibrant red rump.
This is an etching made from an aluminium plate, the plate was inked by the artist and hand pulled on a printing press. The impression was then hand-coloured using a combination of watercolour and gouache. Gouache was used to enhance the vivid red which are particularly vibrant in firetails.
