A painting inspired by bush walks on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. The open woodlands and eucalypt forests; often a mixture of Blue Gum and Pink Gum are quintessentially KI. The pale trunks emerge sculpturally from the shrubby understorey. On hilly country or poorer soils, smaller stunted mallee trees dot the horizon line and ridgetops. Along watercourses and valleys, you often find very large Sugar Gums. The trunks of these trees offer striking vertical accents in the landscape and present a myriad of creams with veins of warm golds and browns running through them. Black scars in the landscape are reminders of past fires. The colours in these landscapes are hyper-real and the familiar forms have become motifs painted from memory.
The painting is ready to hang with a float frame in natural timber.
