After the summer holidays and time spent swimming and paddle boarding in the ocean, I felt inspired to paint some of the fish I had glimpsed below the surface. A fun challenge, given their shimmering bodies are in constant motion and they often become turquoise or silvery dashes as their forms are distorted by the changing reflections and movement of the water.
"I aimed to capture something of their individual character while also recording something of the peacefulness of an ever-moving school of fish."
