An abundance of roses create an atmosphere of imagined scents, dreams and peacefulness. This work allows you to indulge yourself in your very own rose garden filled with all the colours and perfume of dreams.
Art has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. My favourite pastime since childhood has been drawing and the first thrilling win when I was seven in a school book week illustration competition ensured I would forever be an artist. Some years passed as a weekend artist and since 2015 I've been delighted to be a full time one. My first love is oil paint. I came to love this medium when I attended art sessions with the noted late Robert Doyle. In so many ways he has been my inspiration and I like to think he is still helping me. I like to challenge myself with a variety of subjects and mediums but I always come back to my original love of oil paints and the Australian landscape. Now that I am based in the Riverland of South Australian I have an abundance of scenes to choose from. The River Murray, the river red gums and the variety of eucalypt blossoms are a never ending temptation. Every day brings an exciting choice. Just a walk by the River Murray stirs the imagination. Shall I paint the birds squawking noisily or the graceful river gums and as the seasons change more options offer themselves. Each subject lends itself to experimenting with technique and style which leads to interesting and exciting art work. I get much joy from my art and trust that the art collector feels that joy and excitement and wants a little bit of Australia in their home.
