Artwork Description

Inspired by my love of the beautiful Australian birds, this piece was created for the Royal Brisbane Show art competition. My process of collage and abstract backgrounds was used and gradually built up to the star attraction of the Kingfishers. She is waiting in my home studio for her forever home.

The burst of turquoise, emerald, and coral symbolises clarity and courage — a reminder that abundance rewards those who dive fearlessly into life’s depths. Each droplet becomes a metaphor for possibility, each feather a stroke of divine artistry.

This is nature’s ballet — where motion meets stillness, and instinct becomes art.

Artist Bio

Lynette Mary Skeers is a modern romantic artist based in the Fraser Coast region of Queensland, Australia, working in mixed media and oils. Her paintings bring together figurative imagery, landscape, colour and symbolism to explore feminine strength, light, emotion and the quiet connection between the inner world and nature.

Originally from Newcastle and shaped by a lifelong love of dance and creativity, Lynette returned seriously to painting after raising her family. In 2024, she committed fully to her professional practice. She is a graduate of Milan Art Institute and has undertaken further mentorship with celebrated Australian artist Donald James Waters OAM.

Working from her Fraser Coast studio, Lynette builds her paintings with collage, texture, acrylic, inks and oils. Her work ranges from romantic portraits and symbolic reflections to contemplative landscapes and wildlife. Across each collection, she seeks to create beauty with meaning, inviting the viewer to pause, feel and find their own story within the work.
