Artwork Description

Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

Weather watching is one of the things I love the most. Painting when the landscape is disappearing under waves of rain, cloud or fog is challenging but also satisfying. This was one of those days when glimpses of landscape appeared intermittently. I love atmospheric effects.

As the sun sets a luminous band of back lit white cloud hovers over the length of the horizon. The sea is dark blue and agitated, but not stormy. Above windswept wispy clouds drift lines diagonally from upper left to lower right while dusky pinks and blues merge discuss the weather. This tall painting shows a view across Watson's bay to Sydney city in the distance. The branches of a fig tree shade the foreground from above. Several boats are moored in the bay, a couple of yachts can be seen in the distance and a few seagulls roam the beach. Two motor boats are moored in the bay, one old, one new. They're always there. There are many empty yellow moorings nearby .The river begins to develop a dapple as the morning calm is slightly ruffled. The grey and yellowish light conveys calm and tranquility.Dramatic grey clouds rise above a calm sea. Beneath the them a band of orange hints at the sunset while the light blue glimpses appear above.
