Lynn’s interest in art started when she was 7yo and won an art competition at her father’s work in the UK. But after starting full time work at 15yo she had little time to devote to art until 7 years ago when she retired and took a short photorealism coloured pencil course to keep her occupied through retirement. Even though she has no formal training, she likes a wide and eclectic range of both modern and historical artists and this shows in her work and the mediums she uses. Lynn is based in Victoria, Australia and has been since she moved there from the UK at the age of 21.
Now in her 70's she loves working with acrylics, watercolours and mixed media in many different styles. Lynn’s principal focus in art is to create the feeling of freedom, colour, shapes and light in a painting. She is particularly interested in cloudscapes over the sea or the countryside with a key focus on the majesty, enormity, changing nature and depth of clouds. Lynn’s current style of work has been described as inspiring, thought provoking and soothing. Her previous work on pet portraits in coloured pencil, that she still does on commission from time to time, has often brought the owner to tears when looking at the captured personality of their pet.
Lynn seeks her inspiration from the world around her and her imagination. Experimentation is a key creative aspect of Lynns work and often will include different mediums in the same painting to obtain a sought after ‘feeling’ in the work. At over 70 years old Lynn has found a new lease on life creating new works of art and seeing her environment in a new light. Lynn is creative, loves colour, fun and just loves to 'create'.
Lynn’s hopes for the future are to perfect her art to make it collectable and then look for more ways to expend her creative energy via art.
