Artwork Description

This piece was a delight to work on, I enjoyed the experience and I was very happy with the final work. Done in very warm, cozy colours, which could bring a warm sense to either a kitchen or dining room in a country home.

Artist Bio

I was born in Bristol, England in 1957, I was the eldest of two girls. As a young child, I loved art, and at my Secondary School, I made the decision that I would like to become an Art Teacher. My art teacher, Mrs Brown, was very supportive and encouraged me to follow through with my decision. But out of the blue, my parents decided that were going to emigrate to Australia, so Mrs. Brown arranged for me to take my O level in art, which I passed. At the age of 13 yrs. I was awarded a certificate from the London Art Gallery.

Arriving in Sydney Harbour, I looked at the Opera House, and Sydney Harbour Bridge, and realised that Australia would be my new home. But what I was not prepared for was the Australia of 1974, having such a broad accent, and that education system being completely different, than what I had known. With parents too busy to help, I made the choice to go out and find a job. The years went by, marriage, 4 sons, two with disabilities, life was tough going, but I have the most wonderful supportive husband, and back in 2020 he encouraged me to start painting again. As we live in the outback of Queensland, on a cattle station, we rarely see anyone, so now many of my hours are now taken up painting.

I have worked in pastel sticks, pastel pencils, coloured pencils and graphite and hoping to try over mediums later this year. I have been surprised by the improvement I have seen in my work over the past few years. Apart from the teaching I received at Secondary School, I have had not been taught anymore since then. I am enjoying my art, so have decided that it would be good if I could sell some of them, and hopefully share my work with others.
