Artwork Description

'Suds and solitude' is inspired by the sanctuary that bathroom walls create.
What does a bathroom mean to you?
is it a quiet place to relax and bathe, a moment of silence from the chaos of life, a place to bath your children or pets, somewhere to see your reflection for the last time before you leave the house.

The walls of a bathroom hold so many moments of life from tears to romance, soaps and lotions a place of cleansing and regenerating. This artwork is a reminder to slow down live in the luxury of solitude and bathe in the memories that live in your bathroom.

Artist Bio

Welcome!! My name is Madeline Guthrie I am a 28-year-old artist working from the serene South Coast of NSW, Australia. Capturing the perception of my reality through the eyes of a chronically ill person I include hints of Australian landscapes through exaggerated fluid human forms.

My Paintings range in size, using materials such as acrylic paints, oil paints, texture paste and mixed mediums on canvas.
I am open to commissioned works and love the idea of working with a client to create something beautiful together.

I aim to celebrate the beauty that surrounds me while challenging my audience to look deeper inward.
Each one of my Works incorporate hidden details that invite you to take a closer look. Discovering something new about my paintings at each glance.

My art represents underlying emotions that are stored in the body. I intend to create a link between nature and the human form to show the connected force that we cannot deny. I represent the world we live in and the way we relate to these elements through our unique behavioural patterns.

I hope to bring people on a visual journey and connect deeper with who you are at your core.
