Artwork Description

This is a little painting I did of the first flowers I bought at Columbia Road Flower Market when I first moved to London. Painted in my small, dark apartment in Bethnal Green, the colours are not in my usual bright style. I liked the soft, nostalgic feeling of the soft green background against the pastel pink, sculptural petals of the orchids. They reminded me of my grandma, a little piece of home when living abroad.

Artist Bio

Inspired by the personal and complex nature of our psyche, my works capture the summits, depths and mundane moments of our existence through shared emotions, experiences and expressions.

Our lifelong pursuit for liberation from the pressures of everyday life sees many exploring a spectrum of solutions from meditation to daydreaming, and even imposing a physical distance from our day-to-day. It’s the desire to transcend limitations and live in escapism that guides my latest body of work.

‘Balmy Hallucinations’ is a visualisation of adolescent nostalgia that weaves together the narratives of forgotten, transient moments somewhere between reality and a shimmering dream. A journey through comforting, sun-drenched locations, where warm fragrant breezes, glistening waters and vibrant urban streets invite freedom and exploration.
