Madhavi Elapathe is an Adelaide-based artist. Her passion lies in abstract expressionism. Spending time in nature, exploring for new tools and finding new ways to apply colors and texture, is where she finds her source for inspiration. "Art for me is a way to express deep emotion when words cannot. I love painting abstract pieces intuitively, from a place within me that I know is connected to the source of all things” . Madhavi does not produce prints or reproductions, so her works are all original paintings. "I have always had a desire to express the emotions I feel from nature. The depth and richness of the colors. Mostly she loves to paint flowers. " I paint flowers because they never die" My feelings flow directly onto the canvas in an uninterrupted, intuitive flow; layers, textures and colors blend and evolve before me until some secret inner part of me feels satisfied. I don’t question or reflect on the process as it takes shape.
Throughout my creative career, (before it I professionally start my art journey 2009 )I have enjoyed working in a diverse range of roles including 5 years in the Garment industry, as a Designer and a Merchandiser. In the other hand I run my own ecofriendly bag and my own handmade fabric (batiks) company. I have enjoyed all these endeavors, and while painting began as a creative experiment with my children, I never anticipated falling so completely in love with the expression and freedom it provides. It meets every creative impulse I have and is a source of endless inspiration and satisfaction."
