Artwork Description

Moon Rising captures the quiet drama of a night sky alive with movement. At its centre, a luminous moon glows against a swirling tapestry of deep blues, earthy browns, and soft whites. The artist’s expressive brushwork creates a sense of shifting clouds or rolling waves, as though the landscape is breathing beneath the moonlight.
Threaded through the composition are subtle copper finishes that catch the light and add a gentle metallic shimmer. These warm highlights echo the glow of the moon itself, enriching the depth of the piece and giving it a tactile, almost atmospheric presence.
Framed in natural Tasmanian oak, the artwork gains an added sense of grounding and elegance. The timber’s warm, organic tone complements the copper accents beautifully, enhancing the overall harmony between light, shadow, and texture.
Moon Rising is a work that invites contemplation — a moment of stillness suspended between earth and sky, darkness and glow.

Artist Bio

Magdalena is a Polish‑born Australian artist and a passionate self‑taught creator who began painting a decade ago. Working primarily in acrylics, she discovered her artistic voice through exploration, intuition, and a deep love of colour.
Now living in the tropics, she draws inspiration from the vivid colours and bold forms of the natural world — the lush greens of the rainforest, the intensity of tropical blooms, and the shifting light that moves across the coastline. These elements infuse her paintings with vibrancy and movement, creating works that feel alive with energy and emotion.
Her art is shaped by a profound connection to place. Each piece reflects the rhythms of the environment around her, capturing both its intensity and its quiet poetry. Through layered textures, expressive brushwork, and a palette that celebrates the tropics, Magdalena invites viewers into a world where nature’s vitality and her own intuitive expression meet.
Her work has also travelled far beyond Australia. In 2023, her painting Hope was selected for a charity auction in London, where it was successfully sold to support humanitarian aid efforts. The piece, inspired by the colours of the Ukrainian flag and the universal longing for peace, became a symbol of compassion and solidarity.
Magdalena continues to explore the interplay of colour, movement, and feeling in her art, sharing pieces that celebrate the quiet strength found in moments of reflection.
