Artwork Description

I paint endless poppies in all colours. They inspire me with their delicacy but strength - their petals are so soft and almost translucent but the stand firm against the strongest winds which encourage them to dance.

Artist Bio

I am a Riverina artist living in Wagga Wagga with my three studio dogs Charlie, Bella and Henry. I have just finished a twenty year career as a police officer after opening a gallery and studio in Wagga in 2021. My dream of being a full time artist is here! I have loved painting and drawing since I was a little girl and one of my best memories is of my mother taking me to the Monet exhibition at the Gallery of NSW. The beauty of Monets dreamy, light filled style entranced me and I try and bring touches of this into my own style.I would describe my style as eclectic as I am drawn to a number of subjects ad find as my artist journey continues these interests get wider. I am drawn to the depth of emotion in the human face, in particular peoples eyes, the windows to the soul! I am also very drawn to the beauty in nature especially the Australian landscape or seascape. I love flowers and nature and express this through a love of colour and texture which I believe brings out the variety of the natural world. I tend to work on a larger scale and love to create huge statement pieces that lighten any room. I think that its so important to surround yourself with colour and art and beautiful things and try to create pieces that will do just this - bring beauty to a home or office! I try and keep my art affordable as I believe strongly it should be available to everyone and set my prices to abide by this belief. Art is both my therapy and my release, like Monet said, "I would like to paint the way a bird sings" soaring with freedom.
