Reeds at Dusk (a monochrome)

This piece was one of a series of monochromes painted from a series of black and white photos I took. I kept the sense of the photograph and stylised with the technique used.
I used bands of wash in whites, greys and black to creat the background, and a palette knife to form the reeds, pulling them up and out the the 'water'.

I love the buzz of learning new things and new ways of creating effects on canvas. I love even more the idea of passing on that knowledge to anyone who wishes to have it. I have a degree in Education and Diplomas in Hair, Beauty, Clinical Aromatherapy, Colour Therapy and Art Therapy.

Having worked in the Education sector for 25 years in both the Secondary and Tertiary areas, I retired, and, having painted since I was a child, (some 70 odd years), I now paint to save my sanity. I run a small business, creating acrylic works of art, and making Aromatherapeutic products for private clients.

I have sold quite a few pieces of my art. I don’t think I have a particular style – you can decide that for yourself!
