I have been interested in art all my life. I attended Stanley Street Adelaide School of Art in the 80's studying sculpture, design and printmaking however life got in the way. I came back to art in 2010 as a way to work through some traumatic experiences and subsequent challenges I was facing at the time, to help me escape anxiety and depression. A way to practice mindfulness. I began to experiment with different mediums. Abstract collage, photography, still life drawing, portrait drawing, charcoal, water colour and acrylic.
My inspiration comes from the natural world around me, and from the fantasy worlds in my imagination. I love the freedom of experimenting, expressing my feelings and my playing with memories... I love to see what happens when I do something different and then follow that through to see where it finishes.
I had some of my art featured in the "surf art exhibition" at Port Noarlunga Art Centre and in an exhibition at Flinders Medical Centre and Blackwood Rotary Art exhibition in 2012. I have been lucky enough to sell a number of my pieces as a result of these exhibitions but due to my anxiety, I have struggled to find confidence to put my art out there and call myself an artist. My daughter assured me that that's because I'm an artist.
