Artwork Description

A three plate/tone, hand carved and pressed linocut print of my interpretation of a scene from the film ‘Carol’, staring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. Each piece is created using the ‘traditional’ linocut method and is hand pressed using a wooden spoon, with fine quality inks, onto Okawara 51 gsm Japanese paper. Hand pressing the lino for this piece evokes the 1950s nostalgia, in line with the film.

This is a very limited run of 25 prints only. The nature of hand pressed linocutting means that no two prints are exactly alike, making each print a one of a kind original!

Each print is signed, titled and numbered on the front of the piece and supported by a white backing board and plastic wrapped for protection. The artwork also includes a signed and stamped certificate of authenticity.

The first photo featured here is the ‘actual’ numbered print you will be purchasing. Framed mock up image for illustrative purposes only. Artwork size is approx. 250 x 220 mm.

Artist Bio

A local to Melbourne, I’ve spent the past few years honing my art practice with a growing focus on oil portraiture from life. Working from life has become the centre of my process, as there is an energy and unpredictability to a live sitter that keeps me engaged, looking and thinking.

As a self-taught artist, I’m committed to building strong fundamentals, calling on my favorite masters like Sargent and Freud, while staying open to experimentation and contemporary ideas. I’ve explored many mediums, everything from acrylics and pastel to spray paint and cement, but oil painting and charcoal work on paper, with its slow, layered, honesty continues to be the medium that pushes me forward as an artist.

I am the owner of a large scale wall decal company called Neon Pear, which takes its influence from the grit of the city, street art textures, and colour that borders on too much but never quite tips over. It street wear for the home or office. I like work that feels demonstrates natural talent and hard work, not work that requires an accompanying narrative or is celebrated only for the artists backstory.

The pieces I share here reflect my ongoing exploration and crafting of my skill. I do not use projector or tracing, I let my eyes draw the conclusion for you. I welcome commissions and enquiries, especially from those who appreciate portraits with personality, presence, and a bit of an edge.
