Artwork Description

This artwork is an original willow charcoal portrait created on A3-sized paper. Drawn entirely from sight-size, proportions have been measured using only a traditional string method, achieving remarkable accuracy and a classic atelier feel.
The charcoal surface has been lightly sprayed with professional fixative to preserve the tones and prevent smudging. The piece is both signed and embossed by the artist, ensuring authenticity.
Your artwork arrives mounted on a sturdy backing board and protected in clear plastic wrap, ready for framing or display.
*note; this is an original, ‘working’ piece. It is not unusual for the piece to have paper tears on the edge and artwork side and/ or smudges.

Artist Bio

A local to Melbourne, I’ve spent the past few years honing my art practice with a growing focus on oil portraiture from life. Working from life has become the centre of my process, as there is an energy and unpredictability to a live sitter that keeps me engaged, looking and thinking.

As a self-taught artist, I’m committed to building strong fundamentals, calling on my favorite masters like Sargent and Freud, while staying open to experimentation and contemporary ideas. I’ve explored many mediums, everything from acrylics and pastel to spray paint and cement, but oil painting and charcoal work on paper, with its slow, layered, honesty continues to be the medium that pushes me forward as an artist.

I am the owner of a large scale wall decal company called Neon Pear, which takes its influence from the grit of the city, street art textures, and colour that borders on too much but never quite tips over. It street wear for the home or office. I like work that feels demonstrates natural talent and hard work, not work that requires an accompanying narrative or is celebrated only for the artists backstory.

The pieces I share here reflect my ongoing exploration and crafting of my skill. I do not use projector or tracing, I let my eyes draw the conclusion for you. I welcome commissions and enquiries, especially from those who appreciate portraits with personality, presence, and a bit of an edge.
