From an early age I was absorbed in drawing and painted my first oil paintings when I was 12 years of age. Mostly self taught I was fortunate to learn from 2 good artists growing up and a professional artist in my mid twenties when working at an art gallery. By the time I was thirty this experience motivated me to start painting full time until through persistence I began to have work accepted by galleries. I have now been painting for more than 30 years and during that time have exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions over the years. I came to Australia from South Africa and settled here with my wife.
I have also spent time teaching, held workshops and promoting my work on the internet.
Currently working at the Wollongong Art Gallery as a volunteer assistant curator I also spend my time painting impressionistically in oils, acrylic, pastel and watercolour.
My subjects include landscapes, figure studies, seascapes and street scenes.
My goal is to focus on capturing the light and atmosphere of this beautiful country.
