The Chair Ed. 4 of 7

In a world filled with constant uncertainty, I created the original artwork of 'The Chair' through the medium of light, where there is no actual chair in the image except projected light. I photographed the image while the colourful light was changing and moving in a dynamic way. As I was painting with light, I depicted and selected the Ultra Violet Colour that happens to be the Pantone colour of the year 2018, the “enigmatic purple shade,” with its spiritual cosmic hue. The perception is significant; it is an allegory which could be understood as Bible Chair, a Government Chair, a University’s Chair, or any individual’s Chair. For the function of ‘The Chair’ is diverse and is the centre of light, knowledge and wisdom, authority and decision making, where it prepares the new future as part of our renewal and transformation. It inspires viewers to look upward and outward to the future.

Marcelle Mansour is a Sydney-based Australian Multidisciplinary Visual Artist. Primarily painter, digital Artist, photographer, light artist, poet, intellectual, published author, bilingual writer/journalist and Peace Ambassador. Her educational background is two Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) and Studio Arts (MSA), from the University of Sydney, and previously a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Literature and English Language. Marcelle received numerous art prizes including an honorary presidential award, Order of Australia Medal (OAM) approved by Queen Elizabeth II, and Honorable Mention Awards of Artistic Excellence. Marcelle is a participant in the 21st Biennale of Sydney “in 2018, XIII Florence Biennale in 2021, and the forthcoming International Art Exhibition of “Modern Art Masters” 2022 in du Louvre, Paris.
She began drawing from early childhood and was numerously awarded top art prizes by the Department of Education. Marcelle’s passion for art drove her to create memorable paintings. Her impetus desire for creating art becomes compelling to reflect on significant subjects, to narrate stories, to stimulate and inspire viewers. She has been professionally practicing arts for many years and held numerous national and international solo and group art exhibitions with acclaimed artists in prestigious venues in Sydney, New York, Paris (Louvre), Venice, Florence, and London. Her work spans from representational art through to abstract, digital, and light art in a variety of mediums and styles that balance classical insight with contemporary realistic formulation.
Marcelle’s paintings of prominent diverse Australians, their biographies, women’s multiple roles, poetry and scenery were published in her “Shifting Waves” book. Her art is primarily focused on contemporary realistic portraiture, figurative art, and social change. She draws inspiration from sources ranging from art history, philosophy, Renaissance and Contemporary Art, spirituality, humanity, Human Consciousness, women, social issues, light and perception and inner feeling. Marcelle received numerous art grants and prizes including awards for her artwork “Women Strength”, and her literary work “Struggle of Women in Australia” and was selected as a role model on cultural aspects. Marcelle’s “Threshold” art exhibition of Light and Perception, contributed to UNESCO International Year of Light in Australia, earning her the Ambassador of Peace Award.
