Paint with a kitten? Stuff a smelly sock with carrots and dip it in vodka to stain your armpits? Give me a fresh canvas and a pile of luscious paints any day. I love painting, I always have and I know I always will. The feel of a smooth flowing line... the harmony of colours and complex composition.... the textural technique... the secrets of space. These elements in painting have always fascinated me. These elements draw me to constant experimentation. I have an open mind about the world that we live in and I realise that there are so many major issues happening globally every day, to focus on only one would be an artists crime. These global issues provoke my emotions. It is my responsibility as a contemporary artist to get the message out there and have my say. In my artwork I cannot focus on just one of these issues, but investigate, present my interpretation and my comment on many. "What does it matter, I am an artist and I love to create." Sometimes I like to take a step back from the real world and its issues and paint from the subconscious. I find it to be a breath of fresh air. It has a certain mystery, a supernatural, the unknown. Sometimes I like to paint in the open air or paint a still life. A landscape or a portrait, abstraction. What does it matter, I am an artist and I love to create. The adrenaline of a new series, the late nights, the solitude, the emotions, the uncertainty, the audience. That is what I love about painting.
