This piece embodies the deep ache of separation, the unseen bonds of family, and the forces both protective and destructive that shape our connections.
A kangaroo stands with its back turned, unaware of the outstretched hand that longs for it. Wild and untamed, it represents my sisters—distant, unreachable, yet intrinsically tied to me but dangerous as animals are. Wrapped around its legs coils a white snake my other sister, ever-present, watching, though the kangaroo does not realise, entangled around the kangaroo not too care if either of them get hurt.
Between us, a glowing rift of white and yellow carves through the space, a painful divide growing ever wider, making it even more difficult to reach them. My sisters are enveloped in pure negativity, their forms tangled in emptiness, isolated despite presence. Yet I live on in the colours of my mother, her bold, radiant circles infused with love and heritage. They anchor me, passing from her hands to mine, a legacy I wear and will carry forward forever.
This painting holds within it the weight of longing, the complexity of family, and the silent endurance of connection whether seen or unseen, held or lost.
