Artwork Description

This colourful work is almost Pop in its boldness. Layered and vivid colours almost drip down the canvas - organic and free form with an almost casual application.

Artist Bio

Byron Bay based artist and interior designer Marcus Balscheit- Balmain creates large abstract expressionist works on canvas that demand attention with bold and dramatic atmospheric forms.
Marcus is a co-owner and designer at the renowned interior/furniture showroom Surround Interiors , established in 1997, designing bespoke
sculptural lighting and furniture.
Through his interior work, Marcus has evolved a style and scale of painting that enhance the interiors he works with- I strive to not only enable a feature wall in a space to boldly relate to its surrounding objects, but to project dimension and atmosphere through architectural and sometimes etherial form, colour and scale.
Some works convey deconstructed and often simplified landscapes in hazes of muted colour that reach into our dreamlike perceptions of the natural environment.
