I retired as a primary school teacher in 2015 and relocated from the Snowy Mountains area of NSW to the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. I have no formal art education but have attended a variety of workshops with Australian artists since retiring.
I have always been passionate about creativity and my love of colour was an integral part of my teaching practice.
I am inspired by the natural sub- tropical environment in which we live particularly the colours, textures , lines and shapes that abound wherever I look. Over the years I have developed a love of the design qualities inherent in everything I see, both living and non-living.
My artworks are vibrant and eye- catching pushing the boundaries of traditional watercolour by using bold, intense colour, mixed media and mark making to highlight the design elements I see. I like to capture the essence of a subject and create layers of interest and detail that draw the viewer’s attention and also reflect my enthusiasm for what I create.
I like to think the soul essence of my work is like a mathematical equation :
create colourful, vibrant +unique artworks + that make people smile = a happy you; a happy me.
I have exhibited in various group exhibitions in Noosa and for the past three years, I have been an artist in the hugely successful Noosa Open Studios Art Trails.
I love what I do, love colour and creating artworks that are original and unique. My artwork is bringing smiles and joy to collectors across Australia and overseas.
