I have been painting for many years - as a hobby. Sold quite a few in the early days to friends etc. I am just starting to paint again as I am teaching my granddaughter of 5 the techniques of painting. I do landscapes basically - and love bright vibrant colours, I sometimes attach items to the painting - as in the case of a beach painting i did last year - some sticks and dried material as the fence and the plant growth etc. the surfer is also an attachment. I like this sort of art work. I also do photography and add computer images to the photo. Have done 3 or so of these. I take a lot of photos too. I am an author so am an all-rounded creative person I guess one would say - and am a floral artist (as in florist) as well. I also do dried flower arrangements. Used to dry wedding bouquets when i worked as a florist. I frame dried pansies etc. - sold a lot of these in the past.
I did my first ( then framed) painting on the kitchen table at home at 16 (approx) with no art lessons at all. still have that hanging in my current home. It is very large.
Re my authorship - I have written 4 books and on my next manuscript. I write under Margaret Rees or Margaret Rees-Gow. My publishers are Austin Macauley in the UK. I am a poet as well.
I guess i have done over 100 paintings over the years (I am now 74) .. I have several hanging in my home. My most recent was a sunset - which proved very popular to those who have seen it on facebook.
Other career paths - Legal Secretary.
I also make and sell 'out there' hats - mainly add weird and wonderful items to basic hats to make something interesting for ladies to wear.
