A painting is started by following the line where it wants to go, being akin to the creation of physical reality in consciousness. This line is continually restated and shaped by layering and repainting, to become beautiful in its imperfection and idiosyncrasy; a metaphor for people and life.

Margot Broug is an artist, poet and therapist living in Newcastle NSW, originally from The Netherlands.
She is fascinated by life as a fundamentally creative process and how this has its own trajectory in which she participates. For her this means cultivating curiosity, acceptance, embodied presence and a love of beauty to explore experiences and themes of consciousness in all areas of her life.
After 6 years of working from a studio at the artists’ hub The Creator Incubator, she is now working from her home studio. She has had 3 solo shows and been in many joint and group shows. She was a finalist in the 2022 Lake Prize and also in the 2021 Hunter Emerging Art Prize.
Her art is in many private collections in Australia and overseas.
Margot also runs her own business practicing Body-Oriented Psychotherapy & Holistic Counseling and leads regular improv InterPlay Classes.
