* Why did you become an artist? Where did you study etc?
I never really 'Become' an Artist I have always been naturally creative and artistic. Teachers in my younger years at school recognised this and nurtured my ability and encouraged me to chase this field. After competing 3 unit art for my Higher School Certificate in 1992 I went on to complete a 2 yr course for my Associate Diploma in Fine Arts. After a years break I went to university and became a primary school teacher.
*What is the history of your career? I would say I don’t have a lot of history Historically speaking.. After a long break I slowly came back to Art in 2013..where I used my art as a source of escapism, self worth and identity. In 2017 I had two solo exhibitions in Bowral. In the past two years I have spent a lot of time discovering and emerging myself as an artist, which isI have worked out is in a constant state of evolution.
* What mediums/ medium do you work with? I actually love all mediums , predominantly it is Acrylic Paints. I do love oil paints as well but I find the drying time quite tedious. I also love the gentle art of charcoals and pastels. Yes all mediums really ..they are just a tool/vehicle for my self expression.
* How would you describe your art style? Impressionistic ,Expressionistic and Abstract I feel my art style is contemporary, contemplative, empathetic, intuitive and original.
* What do you love about being an artist? I love being able to express myself through my art and being able to connect with an audience both visually and emotionally through my art and soul.
* Where do you draw your inspiration from? My inspiration definitely comes from nature, human thoughts and feelings and my own empathetic intuition. My female figurative works definitely lean toward the more dramatic and yet vulnerable emotions experienced by humans.
* What are some of your most popular works? Tell us a bit about your works and what you love about them?
My most popular works are definitely “The Painted Lady Series” which is ongoing. I have also had moderate success with my Still Life paintings as well. I enjoy creating Art, I am always evolving always keen to challenge and extend my abilities. I love that I am creating it is so me, for me the art is all part of the journey.
* What is your philosophy on Art and in Life? Definitely to embrace and enjoy the journey of life and creation. Never stop seeing or being grateful for the beauty that encompasses us. Be generous, share your inspiration and creativity with everyone.
* Describe yourself or your art in three words.
