Born and educated in Sydney Australia, I studied Theatre and Film and Economics (strangely) at University many years ago but only in the last few years I have decided to pursue my passion for the Fine Arts after many years in the corporate world.
I have studied Fine Art at various colleges/courses in Sydney, but I am predominantly self- taught. Spending time in my home studio is where I love to be.
My inspiration comes from past travels, people and sights which I have experienced in the past 50 years. The use of bright, vibrant colours and textures has always appealed to me, and I try to make use of these in all of my paintings. I have experimented with the use of gels, paste, tissue paper, credit cards, photos, text and sand to introduce texture to the canvas. This adds to the '3D' effect and allows the admirer to 'feel' the colour. Currently, I am discovering various pallet knives/scrapers, and the result is a canvas that is also textured and thick with colour.
I agree with the critic who once said that a painting does not have to be “about” anything other than the process of its own creation.
I have had a very good response so far and have been selling my work steadily, mainly to buyers in Australia, but also around the world. I have also had my work published in the media and have had success at both group and solo shows in local galleries and Bondi Pavilion Gallery.
