My painting technique is anchored in tonal realism. This gives me strong foundation to explore various subject matter and bring emotion into every piece. Currently I am drawn to representations of local natural elements and florals, which I paint from life, as well as portraiture and landscape.
I value beauty and good design. I love a harmonious colour palette, interesting brush work, a sense of depth and light and balanced compositions. I seek to create timeless and emotive paintings that delicately capture light, colour and atmosphere.
As well as oil painting, I am also very passionate about sketching and drawing. A lot can be captured and communicated with line and minimum colour.
Overall, I believe that art gives us a deeper understanding of the world around us and our place in it, no matter if you're the one making it or looking at it.
