I´m a Danish artist painting and living in Greenwich, a hidden gem of a suburb close to the Sydney CBD. From my studio, I have a superb view of the Lane Cove River with it´s for ever changing skies and boating activities which inspire all my art.
I´m an active sailor myself; race on keel boats on the harbour and cruise on our catamaran along the East Coast of Australia as often as being a mother of four teeangers permit.
Ever since I started my career as a painter 15 years ago, I have enjoyed painting large size canvases and always been attracted to depicting the power of movements through strong colours and bold brush strokes. My passion for sailing shows in the details pleasing for a sailors eye; the movements of the waves, the hint of a colourful sail, the inclination of the mast hidden behind white sea spray. I use the best materials because I want my artwork to last. Layers of transparent acrylic paints, black charcoal and pools of sand and pigment with a final spray of varnish; I want the viewer to discover the details like a journey into the layers of the painting. My website is www.marianneurthart.com
Since I moved to Australia from Chile five years ago I have participated in the yearly Greenwich Art Trail where I have been able to sell my art for affordable prices and many of my paintings are now hanging in homes here in my local community. This year I decided to donate all the proceeds from the Art Trail to a local charity Mary´s House.
